If you live in Long Beach or are looking to relocate to this sunny, ocean breeze kissed, city and you’re wondering what type of things there are to do, the list is practically endless but here are a few ideas.
Aquarium of the Pacific – this one offers so much to do, it could count for at least 10! Enjoy touch pools where you can touch manta rays, small sharks, starfish, and more; or stop and watch the penguins and sea otters. When you’re ready to cool off, there’s a spray park that the kids are sure to love. You can even dive in an aquarium exhibit (reservations required & restrictions apply (see Aquarium website for details)) or take a boat adventure and whale watch. There are also many tours and other adventures to indulge in including Daycamps and Sleepovers. The Aquarium is fun for all ages that you can enjoy time and time again.
The Queen Mary – Long Beach is home to this World War II Troopship. This historic ocean liner, now a full-service hotel and entertainment venue that has three world-class restaurants, boasts rich history dating back to 1936 when it took its maiden voyage as the grandest ocean liner in the world. She hosted celebrities that included Winston Churchill, Clark Gable, Bob Hope, and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor until she docked for the last time of her civilian carrier days for years to come in 1939.
Queen Mary was transformed into a troopship when World War II started. Her lavish amenities were replaced with troops and battle gear, she was painted a grey camouflage color, and she was then dubbed the “Grey Ghost”. She was the biggest and fastest troopship to sail and she could carry up to 16,000 troops.
After the war was over, she was transformed back to her original state and she began carrying civilians in luxury again for almost 20 years. Her final cruise landed her in Long Beach in 1967 where she retired and became the hotel and entertainment icon that she is today.
Disneyland – We can’t fail to mention the “place where dreams come true”! Come hang out with Mickey and Goofy for the day or stay at one of the park’s three hotels and make it a night, or five. With dining, character experiences, tours, a spa, pools, recreation, and array of activities there is plenty to do for mom, dad, and the kids!
These are just three of many things to do in Long Beach. You can also enjoy a Gondola Getaway, Grand Romance River Boat, Yacht Charters and Cruises, the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden, tours and so much more. It’s impossible to be bored in Long Beach!
